8 How to make
a return miter.... |
| A return is the small piece used
to make a finished end for a profile that stops at some point w/o a complete
connection to another profile. First miter the running profile as you would
for an outside comer cut so that the longest point reaches the point you
want the profile to stop. Viewed from the decorative or front side, the
cut surface will be on the back. Cut a second piece w/ the miter on the
opposite angle. Then with a square cut, cut the mitered piece short enough
to fit the opening exposed by the cut surface on the running profile. |

9 How
to install, maintain and repaint mouldings.... |
| Polystyrene
mouldings can be nailed with finishing nails or glued with any good grade
of construction adhesive. Apply according to directions. Glue alone is
not recommended to apply Crowns.
To clean Clearwood®PS, gently wipe
with a damp rag. To clean other prefinished mouldings, use a mild detergent
soap.
To re-paint prefinished profiles, lightly scuff,
sand with a 220 grit sand paper and apply latex or oil based paint. |

If installing Crown moulding by yourself place a nail where the
