Trends are defined as a direction, something
current and popular.
This forecast identifies specific directions emerging from the Home
Décor Industry. It becomes essential for the framing industry to
listen and act responsively. Some of the terminology may seem new, but
soon these words will be instantly recognized. Like the word nesting, what
does it mean? Nesting is... the newest “buzz” word in home décor
trends and is defined as a cozy place to rest or retreat. This relates
to families who are creating homes (their nest) where they can continue
to build, retreat at day’s end, and snuggle among its comforts. This nest
is typically adorned with creative framed décor that makes each
and every room attractive. The art and framing industry has grown to over
2 billion dollars per year, which makes tracking the trends in this industry
important. The following presentation is built upon existing and emerging
home décor and framing trends. “Moulding Trends 2000 ”takes

There is nothing quite as peaceful as a garden! Enjoy flowers with
a scent of lavender, wonder among rich and regal violets blended with yellow
green leaves and spotted with the sunshine warmth of lemon yellow daffodils,
which cause the mind to rest and the eye to be pleased. So pleased are
we with this image that we bring “Gardens Design” into our home to enjoy
on a daily basis.
Our morning jobs and evening commutes are brightened by the peaceful
addition of a garden’s décor. It is sometimes referred to as “Romancing
the Home”. Floral designs become an important design element as tomorrow’s
trends quickly begin to unfold. Such is the case with “Country French”,
a direct seedling of Gardens Design. It is revisited from yesteryear and
freshened in new softer palettes of colors.
Another framing trend is tagged “Layering”. In clothing, it means putting
layers together to create a comfortable look where clothes can be added
and deleted. In picture framing, it means putting multiple mouldings together
to create a strong decorative statement that adds “value” in design.
“Layering” is an age-old framing technique which is being reborn in
home décor. There is an art to mixing and layering texture, color
finishes, and styles to create a decorative influence which allows the
family to enjoy this framed art in their home, their Gardens Design!
A new color is born within Gardens Design which is a direct descendent
of a previous trend known simply as “country”.
What home does not have a touch of hunter green? Watch as hunter green
evolves into Marley’s new Garden’s Edge, shown on page three, it is a rich
spruce green washed in warm brown glaze to create a 21st Century green.
Color is vitally important to this trend and just as a garden is splashed
with color, the home is also splashed with color to create a feeling of
peace and joy. Explore the delightful colors and patterns of new profiles
which create a “garden in the mind”. |
